About

I'm a writer and editor who builds AI products. For ten years I made internet journalism — BuzzFeed, The New York Times' T Brand Studio, The Washington Post — and wrote two books for Simon & Schuster. Today I'm a Senior Content Engineer at LinkedIn, where I work on the seam between good writing and good models.

The longer version

I have more than ten years in media, journalism, and branded content, and now generative AI. At LinkedIn I work with LLMs as a Senior Content Engineer, on the seam between editorial judgment and model behavior. What I like most is full-stack building — using AI coding tools like Cursor and GitHub Copilot to take my own products end to end, UI and backend both.

Before this I spent several years in branded content as Senior Creative Lead at the Washington Post Creative Group, the custom content agency inside the Post, and wrote branded features for The New York Times’ T Brand Studio. I cut my list- and quiz-writing teeth over five years at BuzzFeed, as a senior editor in both New York and San Francisco, where I wrote some of the most viral internet posts of all time. I lived the San Francisco startup life as Managing Editor of TuneIn, and before any of it oversaw all things red carpet and runway as senior editor of the Huffington Post’s Style vertical.

I’ve also written for Medium, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, Cosmopolitan, and The Awl (RIP), and interviewed everyone from Jack White to Mindy Kaling. Two books with Adams Media / Simon & Schuster: Things To Do Before You’re 30 and JOMO.

I’m a recovering academic — master’s in religion and classics from Yale Divinity School — and I love talking to others of the sort. I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, about an hour from Detroit. I love golden retrievers, ancient Greek, and the Trader Joe’s “New Products” section. Ask me about the time I went on the Today Show dressed as an SNL character.
